Piping with inside coating

Abstract

PURPOSE: To display high corrosion resistance extending over a long time, by a method wherein a coating having a thickness of 5-4000μm, which is comprised of paints consisting basically of epoxy denatured silicone resin and containing SiO 2 particles is provided on an inner circumferential surface of a metallic pipe. CONSTITUTION: A coating 12 having a thickness of 5-400μm, which is comprised of paints consisting basically of epoxy denatured silicone resin and containing SiO 2 particles is provided on an inner circumferential surface of a metallic pipe 10 and desired piping 1 with an inside coating is obtained. The SiO 2 has high bonding energy with a hydroxyl group. Bonding between the SiO 2 and the hydroxyl group is similar to ionic bonding and stable from an energy point of view. Therefore, the SiO 2 bonds to an epoxy group in epoxy denatured silicone resin. The bonding forms a hydroxide film. The hydroxide film becomes a fixing medium of the coating. In short, since the hydroxide film is formed partly on the inside of a metallic pipe, adhesion of the coating is improved. Consequently, the piping 1 with the inside coating displays excellent corrosion resistance extending for a long time. COPYRIGHT: (C)1991,JPO&Japio
