Power control circuit

Abstract

PURPOSE: To make it possible to control voltage at high speed by converting output voltage of power into digital data, deciding whether or not the output voltage is within the range of allowance, and generating a pulse width control signal by only high order bits of the above mentioned digital data when the output voltage is outside the range of allowance. CONSTITUTION: The difference between output voltage Vout and reference voltage Vref is amplified by an error amplifier 1, and it is converted into digital data by an 8 bit A/D converter 2. High order 4 bits of the above mentioned data are transferred to comparators 4, 5 and 6, when the first bit (MSB) of the above mentioned 4 bits is only '1', it is decided that it is in a stationary state, and mean value data for several cycles averaged by an operation circuit 9 is transferred to a pulse width control circuit 7. When bits other than the first bit are also '1', it is decided that it is not in a stationary state, and the data of the above mentioned 4 bits is transferred to the pulse width control circuit 7.
